Wallet top-up account
A wallet top-up account is a bank account that belongs to you. Money paid into it credits your own Swappr wallet in that currency, and we send you a wallet_funded webhook. Because the account is yours and not a customer’s, the webhook carries no customer block: it is a credit to your own books.
How you get one
Technest sets these accounts up for you. You do not create them through the API. On the API they are read-only: list them with GET /v1/virtual_accounts and fetch one with GET /v1/virtual_accounts/{id}. That list holds only your own accounts. Sub-merchant collection accounts and accounts issued to your customers do not appear in it.
By currency
| Currency | What you get | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| NGN | Your NGN funding account | Senders transfer to the account number shown on the account. |
| KES | A Kenyan bank account for your KES wallet | Set up asynchronously, see below. Only send KES to it. |
| GBP, USD, EUR | Your treasury account | Senders pay it over their local or international rail. Funds settle to your wallet in that currency. |
| CAD | Your registered Interac e-Transfer address | CAD does not use an account number. See CAD & Interac. |
KES accounts are set up asynchronously
Right after a KES account is requested, it shows no account number yet. Once the bank issues the number, it appears on the account, usually within a few minutes.
Do not fund a KES account until its full account number is showing.
GBP, USD and EUR accounts are set up asynchronously
A new treasury account starts in provisioning, and account_number stays empty until the real account number is allocated. Subscribe to the virtual_account_activated webhook to know when it is ready to receive.
Sandbox limitation: only NGN settles in the development environment. GBP, USD and EUR accounts provision in sandbox but do not receive funds, and CAD Interac inflows are not simulated.
